Really Decent Books

Really Decent Books is a small, independent children’s publishing company, based in the beautiful city of Bath.

In March 2012 from a box bedroom, we began creating child and parent-friendly children’s books with the aim of creating titles that encourage children to read for pleasure. From there we expanded and continue to publish high-quality baby, toddler and pre-school books for children aged from 0 to 7 with well-known illustrators and new talent.

Making well-designed and produced books is vital to us, and we think carefully about design, interaction, covers and materials so that our books are fun, pleasing to hold and beautiful to look at.

We are very happy being independent, as we can be flexible, fast and responsive to our customers and partners’ needs. We don’t do big meetings and committees, we just like making books and quick decisions!

Publisher and founder

Responsible for most things, from commissioning new titles and meeting with key customers, to ordering stationery and feeding the animals, Phil lives in Bath with Hannah, their two daughters, a 17-year-old cat called Fray and a puppy called Pepper.

Phil loves to cook, talk about food, and eat food from all over the world.

Hannah

Publisher and founder

When not walking the dog in the Somerset hills, Hannah is busy designing and editing the new books on our list. As a qualified teacher she uses her knowledge of the curriculum to make the books fun and educational.

Hannah loves the sea, and is particularly fond of our ocean-themed books!
